Year 5 & 6

Around our level

Our students recently enjoyed a fantastic day of competition, teamwork, and school spirit at the Summer Sports Gala Day. After the original date was postponed, we were very fortunate to have beautiful weather for the rescheduled event, making it a perfect day for students to participate in a range of sports and represent our school with pride.

Students competed against a number of local schools in Hot Shots Tennis, Basketball, Cricket, Volleybounce, and Softcrosse. Across all events, our students demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, encouragement, and determination. It was wonderful to see so many students stepping outside their comfort zones, trying new activities, and supporting one another throughout the day.

One of the most pleasing aspects of the Gala Day was the positive attitude shown by all students. Whether they were competing on the court or field, umpiring, cheering on teammates, or helping with equipment, students consistently displayed respect, cooperation, and encouragement. Their behaviour reflected our school values and contributed to a successful and enjoyable day for everyone involved.

A big thank you goes to all parent volunteers who assisted with coaching and organisation on the day. We would also like to thank the organisers and participating schools for helping create such a positive experience for all students involved.

Congratulations to all students who participated in the Summer Sports Gala Day. We are very proud of the way you represented our school and the enthusiasm you brought to the event. It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all.

Here are how some of our students felt about the day:

I played cricket. We did good. It was fun and challenging too because we versed other schools that we weren’t sure about. We didn’t know if they were good or bad. Unfortunately we lost every game but at least we tried!

I played cricket. I enjoyed it. It was really fun and even though when we lost, the other team was very supportive. Nobody was a bad sport and we were cheering on the other teams.

I played basketball. It was really good. I liked that we all got to do different sports. We all progress our skills with each sport. When we got there, I didnt expect it to be how it was. We had both inside and outside courts. I didn’t think it was fair that the boys got to play inside the big stadium and the girls had to play on the outside courts. It was a really great day though!

I played sofcrosse. I enjoyed it, I would play that sport again because I liked how you had to use team work to actually win. It’s a challenging sport to play because you can only hold the ball for four seconds and it is also very tiring. We didn’t have any subs so we had to be on the field for the whole game.

I played volleybounce. I enjoyed playing with my team. Some of the games were challenging. We had to let another team win because it was draw. We finally won our last game and we were really happy about it. It was really fun watching the sofcrosse team while we had a bye. Volleybounce is a challenging sport. Overall I enjoyed Gala Day.
