Year 1 & 2

What an exciting fortnight we have had in Year 1/2 with Athletics Day and Year 1 Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea. Our Year 1 students were thrilled to give their Mums and special friends special gifts they had made, and to share their work they have been doing with them. 

During Literacy, we have continued to work on our UFLI and Guided Reading sessions. We have also been writing about some of our  special experiences, such as Athletics and Mother’s Day. Poetry has been the focus this Term, and we have created  poems for our Mother’s and special people. We have also written simile, shape, and alliterative poems. Our focus storybooks for the week were 'Pug' and another about the Crayon’s Mother’s Day.

In Maths, students have been developing their place value skills. Year 2 students have been learning about Fractions, identifying ½, ¼, and ⅛. 

In Wellbeing, our students explored how every friendship is different and learned that people can still be friends despite having different interests, personalities, and hobbies. Our students also discovered that while everyone is unique, we all share similarities and can be kind to each other.

In Geography, students learned about caring for the environment and special places in the community by discussing important local places and exploring ways to look after them respectfully.

Celebrating our Students

Students are nominated by their teachers to receive a certificate of acknowledgment. The below students' certificates will be presented at our next assembly.
