Foundation

Thank-you so much to everyone for the easter eggs brought in for our future Buddy Easter Egg Hunt. We aim to run this in the last week of Term for some festive fun! It will definitely be a highlight! Feel free to bring them in still if you would like.

Also just a friendly reminder to please ensure if your child's hair is shoulder length or longer it must be tied up and back at school.

We love posting pictures in the newsletter and sharing your child's experiences. Additionally, there has been a link previously posted on compass for consent for a range of things/experiences. Please ensure you fill this in with your choices so your child can participate in school activities.

Literacy

Students have learnt r,u, m and c over the past two weeks. They are so excited to be learning more letters and love being able to read more new words with additional sounds learned.

During our writing sessions, students are beginning to use their letter charts to support their spelling. They have absolutely loved writing full sentences, making sure to include a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end.

We are so proud of the progress they are making and the joy they are showing in their writing. We even had the opportunity to visit Mrs Briffa in her office to share our sentences about playing in the sandpit. She was incredibly proud, and so are we!

Maths

In Maths students have been developing their understanding of number by using number lines to identify one more and one less. We are also using the terminology 'before' and 'after'. They have also been engaging in hands-on counting activities, such as tipping out counters from a cup and counting the total, as well as rolling a dice and counting or circling matching collections of dots. They loved matching up dominos to the correct numeral.

Additionally, students have been introduced to tally marks and are learning how to represent these accurately. They are beginning to understand how tally marks can be used as a simple and effective way to collect and organise data.

Wellbeing

In Wellbeing, we have begun introducing the Zones of Regulation to help students recognise and understand their emotions. Through engaging activities, students have been acting out different feelings and discussing how emotions can look and feel in our bodies. We have also been exploring body language and learning ways to communicate our feelings clearly and respectfully. This is supporting students in building their emotional awareness and developing positive strategies to manage their emotions.
