Supporting the 70 years celebrations
What a privilege it was to be part of such a historic milestone for MGSC — the 70th Birthday Celebrations.
No amount of rain could dampen the spirits of MGSC’s proud alumni. As one myself, I had the unique experience of seeing the event from two perspectives — both as part of the organising team and as an attendee enjoying the celebrations. Meeting up with old friends was amazing, and there was a wonderful sense of nostalgia as we wandered through the school — reminiscing about the years gone by and sharing fond memories.
The day began dry but quickly turned into what can only be described as WET WET WET! Despite the challenging weather, I couldn’t be prouder of our incredible volunteers. They embraced the conditions with good humour and determination — cooking sausages while standing in puddles, keeping everything (and everyone) as dry as possible, and doing it all with smiles on their faces.
A heartfelt thank you to Bakers Delight Southland and Bakers Delight Thrift Park for their generous bread donations, and to the families who contributed towards the purchase of the sausages. Your support made the day possible.
Finally, congratulations to Hayley Dureau on a wonderfully successful event!
