Division Athletics
Last Thursday, around 20 CSPS students proudly represented our school at the Kingston Division Athletics Carnival. All participants are to be congratulated for giving their best effort on the day. A big thank you to the parents who helped with transport and support.
Notable results
Yuval B (Year 5), who placed 2nd in both the 800m and 1500m events;
Adele N (Year 5), who achieved 2nd place in shot put and discus — recording personal bests in both; and
Ariella K (Year 5), who finished 3rd in the hurdles.
Yuval and Adele have now qualified for the Southern Metro Regional Athletics Carnival, to be held on 24th October. We wish them both the very best of luck!
Team Vic Soccer
We also wish Leni S (Year 6) the very best of luck as she represents Victoria at the Soccer National Championships, beginning on Saturday, 25th October, in Ballarat. Being selected to represent the state is an exceptional achievement — and even more impressively, Leni has been named Vice-Captain! Congratulations and good luck, Leni!
Footy Colours Day
“I play for Ormond. I liked footy colours day. I support Richmond and I wore my tigers top. Footy for me is not just about winning, it is about having fun. I think more girls should give footy a go!” Anisha (Y6)
“The best part about footy colours day was that I got to watch with my friends the big kicks of Patty, Freddie, Leni and the others. I wore my La Clippers basketball top.” Lazar (Y4)
“It was my birthday on footy colours day, and I loved it. I loved it because we got to have sausages for lunch and I loved it because I got to wear my footy colours, red and blue for Melbourne.” Nochie (Y3)
“I liked how everyone got to do a lap of the oval with their team. I liked watching the Year 5 and 6’s kick the footy far. I liked the footy theme songs. I support North Melbourne and there were only two of us which is cool.” Ivy M (Y3)
“Everyone dressed up in their favourite teams’ colours and we had a parade. There was an Allstars group for all the other sports. It was a good way to finish the term, and I liked how you could show your favourite team by your clothes.” Zara N (Y3)
“I play for Ormond and I go for Collingwood. I liked footy colours day as I liked watching the kids kick the footy. I won a trophy this year for always going to training and improving the most.” Nithilla (Y4)
“I go for the cats. They wear blue and white. I liked the parade, it was my favourite part of the day.” Milo (Prep)
“I go for the hawks. They wear yellow and brown. I liked the Hawthorn song during the parade.” Kobe (Prep)
“I liked that we could walk around the oval. I go for Carlton, they are good, they did a little bit good this year.” Luka (Prep)
Melbourne Marathon Festival
Well done to all CSPS community members who participated in the Melbourne Marathon Festival. We had a number of staff, students and parents participate in a range of events. Congratulations!
2XU Wellness Run
Mr Cooper has once again organised a CSPS team to take part in the upcoming 2XU Wellness Run.
Physical activity provides significant benefits for both mental and physical health, and we strongly encourage as many of you as possible to participate in this event (with many staff members already registered).
All funds raised for this event go towards sponsoring Beyond Blue, an organisation that provides a free online and telephone helpline to support people who might be going through a hard time, have mental health concerns, or are worried about someone else who does.
You can choose to run 5km, 10km or a half-marathon (21.1km), or the under 12 1km dash for our students. The event starts and finishes at Catani Gardens (half marathon start at Albert Park), running a picturesque loop along Beach Road.
We look forward to you joining the CSPS team (registration link here)!
