Principal's Report
We, at Miners Rest Primary School, would like to acknowledge the Wadawurrung people of the Kulin Nation.
We pay our respects and thank the Wadawurrung people. May we share your land. We promise to look after it, as well as the animals and people too.
As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding term at Miners Rest Primary School, I find myself reflecting with a great sense of pride on all that our students, staff and families have achieved together. Term Three has been filled with learning, growth, celebration and, importantly, many opportunities for our community to come together.
School Council Open Meeting
Our School Council OPen Meeting was recently held at school. This meeting provided an opportunity to share some important and encouraging evidence of our school’s progress, including our pleasing NAPLAN results, affirming data from the 2026 Attitudes to School Survey, and key highlights from our 2025 Annual Report. While data provides us with valuable measures of progress, it is the daily commitment of our students, staff and families that sits behind these results. It is wonderful to see this collective effort reflected in the positive outcomes we are achieving.
Our Colour Run was another highlight of the term. With beautiful sunshine, an incredible turnout from our families and plenty of colour, laughter and enthusiasm, it was a wonderful celebration of what makes our school community so special. Seeing our children enjoying the day alongside their friends, teachers and families was a lovely reminder of the importance of creating opportunities to simply have fun and connect with one another.
Student Led Conferences
Our Student Led Conferences are also a particularly proud moment for me. I am incredibly impressed by the preparation and confidence our students demonstrate as they share their learning, goals, achievements and proud work with their families. The strong attendance and genuine engagement of our parents and carers made these conversations even more meaningful. Providing our students with the opportunity to speak about their own learning and have their voice valued is an important part of developing confident, engaged and increasingly independent learners. It was wonderful to see this student agency so authentically demonstrated across our school.
Footy Colours Parade
And, of course, we will finish the term with plenty of school spirit! Following Walk to School this Friday, our Footy Colours Parade will take place in the Gym and will be followed by our final assembly for the term. We will finish the day, and the term, with the highly anticipated sliming of the teachers! I am sure our students will thoroughly enjoy seeing some of their teachers embrace the fun of the occasion!

As I look back over the term, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to every member of our school community. To our families, thank you for your tireless support, advocacy and partnership. Your encouragement, involvement and belief in our school make such a difference. To our students, thank you for the enthusiasm, courage and kindness you bring to school each day. And to our dedicated staff, thank you for your unwavering commitment to providing the very best learning and wellbeing experiences for our children.
There is so much to be proud of as we finish Term Three, and I feel very fortunate to be part of such a supportive, connected and positive school community.

I wish all of our students and families a safe, happy and restful holiday break. I hope the holidays provide an opportunity to slow down, enjoy time together and recharge.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term Four, ready to continue working together to make it another successful, purposeful and enjoyable term for every child at Miners Rest Primary School.
