Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships:

Respectful Relationships at Spring Gully Primary School is a highly valued program where the students learn how to be ‘Respectful’, ‘Resilient’ and ‘Responsible’. This not only reflects our School Values but teaches our students how to ‘Be Awesome’, which is our school motto.

In this newsletter space, we will keep you up to date with what is going on with Respectful Relationships, in each classroom.

In 5/6 Greer this week, we participated in a activity focused on understanding emotions and how they can vary in intensity. Through role play and rich discussions, we explored different situations and identified triggers that can lead to stronger emotional responses — particularly in moments where someone may experience exclusion or negative treatment from peers.

These conversations helped us build empathy and develop strategies for responding thoughtfully and respectfully.

This past fortnight, students at SGPS have continued an awesome display of our School Values - demonstrating Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience within their classrooms and the school yard. They have become familiar with our School-Wide expectations and have played a large part in developing expectations for their own class matrix.

Our students have been earning stickers for these behaviours and as a result, many classes have been able to enjoy a Whole Class Reward. Some highlights include:

  • Class party for 2 Grade 5/6 classes
  • Casual clothes day
  • Bring a toy to school
  • Decorating laptop cases / 'Crafternoon'

As more classes reach rewards, we get closer to achieving our Whole School Reward. We are currently aiming for Level 1 - Movie and popcorn, and are excitedly watching as our school's Gugu display fills.
