Principal's Message

Dear Families, Students and Community Members,

It is hard to believe that we are over halfway through our first term of 2026.

It has been a smooth and highly positive start to the 2026 school year. Across the college, students have returned with enthusiasm, focus, and a strong commitment to their learning, setting an excellent tone for the year ahead.

We have been particularly impressed with our Year 7 students as they transition from primary school into secondary school. This is an important step in their learning journey, and it has been fantastic to see how quickly they have embraced new expectations, routines, and opportunities. Students have settled in well, demonstrating growing independence and engagement in their classes.

Stage 2 Building Update

Construction is underway to deliver the second half of our school. The stage 2 construction worth just over $83 million will deliver:

  • a double-storey visual arts building that aims to give our students a spectacular learning environment with classrooms and learning spaces that are fully designed for purpose.
  • 2 additional Learning Neighbourhoods very similar to our current
  • 2 Soccer Pitches
  • Additional play space, seating areas and manicured gardens

The complete project is due to be completed through 2026 and will be ready for student use at the beginning of the 2027 school year.

College Council Elections

College Council elections are underway, with the Ballot to elect our Parent & Student representatives will have been completed by next week. Once our elected representatives are confirmed, our school community will be notified of the outcomes via Compass.

Communication

It is easy to see how the transition from primary school into secondary school might cause a little anxiety for some new families (particularly if this is your first child attending secondary school), secondary college is often a lot bigger than your primary school may have been! Whilst we put many measures in place to smooth out this process, we know that communication is the key ingredient for a successful relationship with you.

Communication is slightly different at secondary school in that our main method of communication is via Compass. You will find the Compass App an invaluable way of quickly checking your child’s attendance, your child’s lessons for the day, events you need to give permission for, and any upcoming Learning Tasks. If you need help with resetting passwords, support ensuring your child has permission for an event etc, please contact the Front Office.

E-Scooters and the Law

E-scooters must comply with specifications outlined in the Victorian road rules.

E-scooter riders must:

  • be aged 16 or over
  • wear a helmet
  • ride at no more than 20 km/h
  • ride on:
    • shared-use paths
    • bicycle paths
    • roads with a speed limit of up to 60 km/h

It is important that parents are familiar with the road rules and laws for E-scooters, more details can be found at: https://transport.vic.gov.au/road-and-active-transport/active-transport/e-scooter-road-rules or https://www.police.vic.gov.au/electric-powered-scooters-e-scooters

Kind Regards,
