The only thing better than learning to play and instrument is having the opportunity to share your music with others!
An audience of around 250 extended family and friends attended the event to support the many talented students who participate in our Instrumental Music Program. The bands were very keen to perform and delivered a lively program full of famous soul hits from over the years.
Music encourages a strong connection between people; there is nothing better than tapping your toes along to a great beat and swaying with the crowd! A particular favourite of mine, soul music has an infectious energy that is hard to resist - and it was fabulous to watch the students radiate this energy to their audience. When I turned to see the faces in the audience I could see that they were just as engaged as I was - their smiles were wide, toes were tapping and and bodies bopping!
Watching our young people perform, it became clear that soul music isn't just about the rhythm and lyrics— it is about sharing a powerful experience that resonates with everyone in the room.
Many thanks to our fabulous Parents Association were on hand to coordinate pre-show drinks in the foyer. This proved to be a very social occasion and it was wonderful to see so many attend, all bringing along a plate to share for nibbles. Staff, parents, carers, family and friends used the occasion for a mid-term catch up, and we look forward to doing it again at the 2025 Chamber Concert!
