This week, the Year 9 Racing for the Future students enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Melbourne Grand Prix at Albert Park. The visit provided students with the opportunity to develop their independence while exploring the world of technology, engineering and design within the motorsport industry.

Throughout the day, students experienced the thrill of live racing, watching events such as the Supercars, Porsche Carrera Cup, Formula 2, and the Hall of Fame historic cars. Beyond the track, students also engaged in a range of interactive STEM experiences, including driving and drone simulators, robotics displays, and design-based activities.

The excursion offered a valuable real-world connection to the innovation and technology that underpin modern motorsport, while also providing students with a memorable day of learning.

Writer’s Workshop

One of the consistent highlights from Focus Week is Writer’s Workshop where students put their literary and artistic skills to the test. Year 9 students interviewed Grade 2 students to find key details and spent the week writing a bespoke children’s story complete with personalised images. The week is an exercise in literary and illustrative techniques and most importantly time management.

Writer’s Workshop is always a heart-warming week that builds on our Canowindra connections and reminds us of the significant age-span of our students.

We hope that our Junior School students enjoy their stories.
