Audience Experiences Formative in Learning

Over the past week, two Senior School Performing Arts excursions have given students the opportunity to experience performances of exceptional quality.

The Year 10 Dance class attended Top Class Dance at the Recital Centre, featuring the highest achieving 2025 VCE Dance students. The excursion offered valuable insight into the standard expected at Units 3 and 4, as well as the assessment criteria used at that level.

Last week, the Year 12 Music class enjoyed an open rehearsal of Rachmaninoff’s Symphonic Dances. Students were fascinated to watch the conductor shape the music in real time, manipulating the elements of music to bring the work to life. A special highlight was seeing our own Overnewton clarinet teacher, Robin Henry, performing with the orchestra, creating a meaningful connection for the students.

Congratulations too to Jeanine L, Belinda J, Ella R and Mrs Hessey who performed at MS Assembly to acknowledge the day. Music is integral to College events and the marking of important occasions.
