Careers & Pathways

🐰Happy Term 1 holidays Bemin Community! It certainly has been a busy month. We have been focused on ensuring students have started the year strong, with training, work experience and much more.

This includes 6 students participating in the School Based Traineeship for Baking. These students work alongside other students from the region, out of Tarneit Senior College. Here they refine their baking and decorating skills, working on both their theoretical and practical knowledge in the culinary industry . They have committed to both work and study for the year to gain valuable certification in the hospitality field, to give them a career head start when  completing school. This term also saw our Year 10 students partake in other certificates, and school based apprenticeships. Please read on to hear about their journey.

Baking SBAT by Chanthic Hale

I attend my baking class twice a week at Tarneit senior secondary college . On Wednesday we do theory which involves learning about safe kitchen practices and on Fridays we learn new recipes, then we make them in the kitchen .

We have made many different things already such as pizzas, brownies, muffins, and sausage rolls from scratch .

I enjoy this course because I learn beneficial skills at a pace I am comfortable with .

I also feel really comfortable with my trainer Sam who runs the class well and ensures everything is easy to understand and that we are all included and up to date.

CARPENTRY SBAT

Chris

I started  a school-based apprenticeship in Carpentry last year with a friend at Debney. I applied myself well and my role is assisting with all stages of the housing process. I have since commenced  trade school training at Platinum Institute and I have been progressing through my studies. I  enjoy the opportunity to be able to undertake this apprenticeship while still attending school.

White Card Training

On Friday, 13 March, a group of Year 10 and 11 students participated in White Card Training.

It was a highly successful day, with all students successfully completing their assessments.

Here's what a couple of the students had to say about their experience:

I really enjoyed my experience with the White Card Training course and found it very reassuring that this school has so many great opportunities for students and their future jobs. I felt very welcome in the course and it was very fun.

(MIPPS) Multi-Industry Pathway Program

Hi, I'm Levi. I've been interested in building and construction for as long as I can remember because of my family. Then I saw an opportunity, AGA. There I learnt how to do a lot of things in carpentry, plumbing, and soon I'm learning how to handle electrical circuits. In the photo above, I helped make this structure, we learnt how to construct frames. I go only on Mondays. I have fun, hanging out with mates and I get my white card at the same time.
