Transition to Year 7
Students at the Junior Campus, in particular, our Year 7's, have made a positive and confident start to their secondary school journey. The transition into secondary school has been smooth, with students settling well into their new academic classes and our College routines. Our students in Year 7 have approached new experiences with enthusiasm and maturity, forming new connections with their peers and teachers. They have demonstrated a willingness to engage in all aspects of school life. It has been a very successful beginning to the year, setting a strong foundation for continued excellence in 2026.
Year 7 Welcome BBQ
The Year 7 Welcome BBQ, held on the 11th of February, provided a wonderful opportunity to bring together our Year 7 students, their families and our College staff. The evening, (despite being quite cold and rainy) was filled with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, as students enjoyed sausages and ice creams alongside their teachers and parents, while getting to know one another. A highlight of the evening was the student performances, which showcased the talent at our College, with special thanks to Addie (Year 7) and Clem Nguyen (Year 9) for their beautiful singing. Students also had the chance to participate in engaging Maths and English games in the quiet room, thoughtfully put together by staff and facilitated by Andy Gao (Year 9) . Overall, the event was a fantastic way to build connections and set a positive tone for the year ahead.

International Women's Day
On Friday 6 March, Bemin Secondary College’s Junior Campus proudly celebrated International Women’s Day in anticipation of the official date on 8 March. Throughout the day, students engaged in a range of Check and Connect activities that promoted reflection, discussion, and appreciation of women’s achievements and contributions. At lunchtime, students participated in a variety of engaging activities, including a photo booth, writing thank-you cards, and making friendship bracelets. These experiences provided a meaningful opportunity for our female students to connect, collaborate, and celebrate one another in a supportive and inclusive environment, reinforcing a strong sense of community across the College.

Wyndham Technical School Excursions (Each Tuesday in Term One)

The Year 9 Next Generation Creators class has been engaging in an exciting and innovative program at Wyndham Tech School, in partnership with Victoria University. Throughout the term, students have been designing and building robots, developing their technical skills while working collaboratively in teams. Through a series tailored STEM projects, students in the class followed detailed instructions to construct and refine their designs, demonstrating strong problem-solving abilities and creativity. This experience has not only enhanced students' understanding of emerging technologies, but has also fostered teamwork, communication, and critical thinking, with students thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to learn in a dynamic environment.

Victorian State Schools Spectacular
Last year, a group of students from Bemin Secondary College performed in the Victorian State Schools Specatcular at John Cain Arena to about 20,000 people. The performance was also televised on Channel 7 for the whole country to see!
A few weeks ago, we had our first dance rehearsal, where we learnt 6 of our dances. Our experience was spectacular. We pushed through with laughter and enjoyment. We rehearsed with other schools in our region and worked together with them to learn our dances. It was really exciting to create a community with other like-minded students.
We hope to showcase our dances to everyone in future assemblies. Stay tuned!

Maahika & Tvisha (Year 9 Students)
Harmony & Cultural Diversity Week
During Week 8, a few students from the Junior Campus were invited to perform at Warreen Primary School for their Harmony Day Picnic event. This was a very exciting opportunity for our students to celebrate with the Warreen community and share their dances. It was also a valuable chance for students to build confidence and represent our school with pride.
During Week 9, we celebrated both Harmony Week and Cultural Diversity Week. This was a vibrant celebration of the many cultures that make up our school community. Across the week, students engaged in a range of lunchtime clubs and classroom activities. This included a lunchtime game of Ki o Rahi (a Maori ball sport), language lessons, dance lessons, bracelet making and henna designing.
The week concluded with a whole-school assembly and it was great to have our entire Junior Campus cohort gather in the gym. Our students proudly wore cultural dress and enjoyed a series of energetic and exciting dance performances. It was a fantastic way to come together as a community and celebrate the diversity that strengthens our school.

Year 9 BBQ
Our Year 9 BBQ was a fantastic way to bring students together, celebrate the term and the end of NAPLAN. Students enjoyed a classic sausage sizzle, Ice Lollies, music, and a range of fun small games. It was great to see so many students connecting with one another and making the most of the afternoon. Some students also took the opportunity to contribute to our upcoming multicultural video to celebrate cultural diversity week.

Junior School Green Chronicle Competiton
On Tuesday 31st March, students across Years 7–9 who achieved the highest number of Green Chronicle Compass posts were rewarded with a special hot chip lunch alongside Ms Camozzato. The atmosphere was upbeat and full of positivity, with plenty of smiles, laughter, and a real sense of celebration as students enjoyed time together in a relaxed and social setting. It was fantastic to see students being recognised for their consistent efforts and the pride they are taking in their behaviour and contributions to our school community.
This celebration will take place at the end of each term, providing an exciting ongoing opportunity to recognise and reward student achievement. We look forward to seeing even more students striving to be Chronicle Champions in the future!
