Senior Boys Cricket
Full disclosure. The Bemin Senior Cricket Team unfortunately went 0-3 in our day of cricket. The team could have dropped their heads and conceded defeat and wallowed in being the losing team…..but they didn’t. The team played hard, fair and in the spirit of cricket (no sandpaper was used during the day). We had lofted off drives for six, we had balls that bamboozled the opposition batsmen, we had classic catches and diving saves, we had direct hit run outs. The day had everything a good day of cricket could ask for (apart for a win).
The most impressive part of the day was seeing how quickly the team connected and played for each other. Words of encouragement were offered to the fielders, boundaries were met with screams of joy from the team and if a bowler needed some backing up, the players were there when they needed it. Strong performances from Muhammed Hashim (Year 11) and Avijot Singh (Year 11) with the bat and Viren Malhortra (Year 12) and Dhruv Karwal were some of the many highlights of the day.
We will be back next season, and we will get that win and mark my words we will never lose a match to The Grange!
Year 10 Girls Volleyball
The junior girls’ volleyball team from Bemin Secondary College showed outstanding determination and resilience throughout the competition, finishing 5th out of 10 teams. They went neck and neck with some very strong opposition, narrowly missing out on progressing further after a tough pool stage. Despite this early setback, the team responded brilliantly to win the final set, a testament to their character and competitive spirit. The energy and commitment displayed by these girls was second to none, and they represented the school with enthusiasm, passion, and pride. As their coach, I could not be prouder of their efforts, and with this experience behind them, there is no doubt that next time we will be pushing for the cup.
Senior Girls Volleyball
Our senior girls’ volleyball team delivered an exceptional campaign, earning a well-deserved 3rd place finish against strong and competitive opposition. Across the day, they showed composure, skill, and a deep understanding of the game, consistently rising to the challenge when it mattered most. What stood out most was their leadership, connection as a group, and unwavering commitment to one another on and off the court. This team has formed a special core, and with many of these players set to graduate next year, their impact on the program will be deeply missed. However, with one more season ahead, there is a clear sense of purpose to come back stronger and take out the championship before they leave, finishing their journey the way they deserve.
Year 10 Boys Volleyball
The Year 10 boys’ volleyball team displayed incredible teamwork and excellent adaptability throughout their games. The team won three out of four of their pool, making it into the top four out of 10 teams to the semi-finals. The boys battled hard and played well, falling short to close sets of 18-20 and 17-20 to Tarneit Senior College. They then progressed to play the Year 9 boys’ team from Bemin Secondary College in a friendly match to finish the day before heading back to the college. The energy displayed by everyone in the team, no matter how much playing time they had was commendable as they were supporting everyone down to the very play point.
Senior Boys Volleyball
The Senior boys’ volleyball team showed great communication skills all throughout their pool group stage games. The team started with a bye, scouting their opposition, watching their playstyle and preparing a team strategy to execute. They were successful, winning the first two games against ICOM and Good News, however fell short to a more formidable opposition against Tarneit Senior and the grange. The boys showed incredible determination at every point and displayed great communication in and out the court. The team is determined to improve and more motivated to come back stronger in hopes to enter more competitions later in the year.
Interschool Sport Update – Everton Campus
Celebrating Success and Looking Ahead
It has been an exciting and energetic time for interschool sport at our Junior Campus, with students showing incredible commitment, teamwork, and school spirit.
Years 7,8 and 9 Volleyball
Our volleyball teams have recently achieved fantastic results in interschool competition. The dedication, lunchtime and after-school trainings showed by our players has been outstanding, and it has been wonderful to see students representing the school with pride. Our year 9s took on the state champions 'The Grange' and fought an amazing battle just coming off short, we are so proud of their efforts.
Beyond the wins and results, the teamwork, respectful behaviour and following the school values, this showcases the true value of our sporting program.
Years 7,8 and 9 Netball (girls)
We marked a successful completion of the interschool girl’s netball competition this week, bringing together talented young girls for a fantastic display of skills and teamwork.
A big thank you to the coaches and families for their ongoing support in making the competition such a success.
Overall, we have had a successful first term with our interschool sports program and beyond the results, these events highlighted positive engagement amongst our students and staff to represent their school doing something they love.
Looking Ahead:
The 2026 Athletics Carnival
One of the biggest highlights on the sporting calendar this year will be the 2026 Bemin Athletics Carnival. This event is much more than just a day of races and field events. It is a celebration of our whole school community and cheering on your house colour with pride.
The event is now live on compass. Families, please make sure to consent before the closing date in June.
