Laudato Si’ Week is celebrated annually in May and embraces the spirit of Laudato Si', the encyclical of Pope Francis, which reminds us of our shared responsibility to care for our common home.

Participants involved in the Mary MacKillop Award Program have been actively brainstorming ways they can advocate for environmental responsibility and inspire positive change within the school community. Through collaboration and discussion with our Student Animator, Miss Olivia Hinds, students have explored practical initiatives to raise awareness about caring for creation and supporting a more sustainable future.

As part of their commitment to putting faith into action, participating students will engage in active service opportunities that reflect the values of compassion, stewardship, and responsibility. These experiences allow students to connect Catholic Social Teaching with meaningful action, demonstrating how even small acts can contribute to the wellbeing of both people and the environment.

Laudato Si’ Week reminds us that caring for creation is not simply an environmental issue, but also an expression of faith, justice, and love for others. We thank all students involved in the Mary MacKillop Award Program for embracing the spirit of this important week and continuing to work together to protect and care for our common home.
