Early Departures – Reminder of School Procedures

We have recently noticed an increase in students leaving early from school in general and particularly on Thursday afternoons. While we understand that appointments, family commitments, and other circumstances may arise, it is important that all early departures follow the established school protocols to ensure student safety, accountability, and the smooth transition of students.

To support this process, we ask all families and students to ensure:

  • All early departures to be organised before the school day, with appropriate parent/carer communication provided in the student diary, stating the reason & time of departure, as well as, who will be collecting them.
  • Students must have their diary note signed by their Homeroom Teacher or Year Leader on the morning of their departure.
  • This signed diary note serves as the student’s permission to leave class and should be presented to their classroom teacher at the appropriate time.

When diary notes have not been completed, or when family members arrive without prior notice or pre-arranged communication, the collection process is significantly delayed, which can be particularly challenging when families are trying to attend scheduled appointments. Furthermore, this places additional pressure on our systems, as well as on the use of the runner, who is often required elsewhere across the College for urgent student or operational needs.

Your support in ensuring these procedures are consistently followed is greatly appreciated. By working together and adhering to the agreed protocols, we can ensure student departures are managed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to teaching, learning, and sport commitments.

Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation.

Tell Them From Me Survey

This term, our school is participating in our annual the Tell Them From Me® (TTFM®) survey. This survey provides valuable feedback on students' perspectives from years 4 and up about school life, their engagement, and the ways teachers interact with them. The surveys are rigorously validated and developed by The Learning Bar, an organisation specialising in educational research and survey administration. These surveys gather crucial data that help enhance student learning experiences and overall school environment. Key Points:

  • The survey is confidential, and school staff will not be able to identify individual students from their responses.
  • Participating students will receive a unique username and password to ensure confidentiality.
  • The survey is online, takes 15 to 20 minutes, and will be conducted during school hours.
  • Participation in the survey is voluntary. If your child feels uncomfortable with any question, they can skip it or stop the survey at any time.
  • Teachers will remind students that they can talk to their teacher or guidance counsellor if they feel distressed or worried about the survey.
  • The survey measures topics such as emotional and social well-being, physical health, and behaviours and attitudes that are predictors of student success.
  • It also allows students to provide their thoughts and feedback through open-ended questions.

All students will be given the opportunity and time to participate in this survey during school time in an allocated lesson in Week 5 or 6. Students will be given a random username and password to access and complete the survey online. Students’ names cannot be linked to their responses which allows it to be completely anonymous. Results will show all student scores combined together – it is not possible to single out individual students in the results. If you do not want your son to take part in the survey, please email Mrs Petrovski at jpetrovski@parra.catholic.edu.au by Wednesday 20th May 2026.

From Monday 18th May to Friday 5th June 2026, we invite our parents to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You are able to access the parent survey here: http://tellthemfromme.com/qcb6h

Thank you for your ongoing feedback as we continue to work together to support student learning and wellbeing.

Year 11 & Year 12 Parent – Teacher Interviews

Thank you to the many families who attended our Year 11 and Year 12 Parent–Teacher Interviews. It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout and to have the opportunity to meet face-to-face.

The senior years of schooling can often be some of the most challenging and demanding for our students, both academically and personally. Opportunities such as these interviews are incredibly valuable in strengthening the partnership between home and school, allowing us to openly discuss each student's progress, celebrate successes, and identify ways we can continue to support their growth.

These conversations reinforce the importance of working together in partnership to support, nurture, and challenge your daughter in her learning, ensuring she is equipped to flourish academically, personally, and spiritually during these important years.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to your daughter's educational journey. We would also welcome any parent feedback in relation to the event.

Year 10 Examination Period

As the Year 10 examination period quickly approaches, we encourage families to take the time to check in with their daughters and support them as they prepare for what can be a demanding time in their academic journey.

Examinations provide an important opportunity for students not only to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding, but also to reflect on their learning growth. As results are returned, we encourage our students to view this as a valuable learning experience—an opportunity to celebrate what they know and understand, while also identifying areas for further growth and development.

This mindset of reflection and continuous improvement is an important part of becoming a confident and resilient learner.

We wish all of our Year 10 students every success as they approach their examination block, and we encourage them to remain focused, organised, and confident in their preparation.
