On Tuesday, 5 May, our college community gathered in joyful celebration for our Mother’s Day Liturgy, a special occasion that brought together students and their loved ones, including mothers, grandmothers, and cherished mother figures. It was heartening to see such a strong presence of families, filling the space with warmth, gratitude, and a shared spirit of faith. It provided a special opportunity for students to share this meaningful experience together with their families.

Grounded in our Catholic tradition, the liturgy invited us to reflect on the gift of motherhood as a reflection of God’s nurturing love. Through prayer, Scripture, and song, we gave thanks for the women who guide, support, and inspire us each day. In a particular way, we looked to Mary, the mother of Jesus, as a model of faith, humility, and unwavering trust in God.

We were reminded in the words of Scripture:

“Love is patient, love is kind… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4–7)

These words beautifully capture the selfless love lived out daily by mothers and mother figures in our community.

The active involvement of our students made the celebration especially meaningful, as they participated with reverence and joy, offering prayers and messages of appreciation.

As a community, we also continue to hold all mothers in our hearts with this prayer:

A Prayer of Thanksgiving on Mother’s Day

Loving God,

For the quiet strength of mothers, we give you thanks:

for hands that serve, hearts that give,

and love that never fades.

Bless our Mothers in all they do,

fill their days with peace,

their hearts with joy,

and their lives with your gentle grace.

Amen.

We are deeply grateful to all who joined us for this special celebration, and we continue to keep all mothers and mother figures in our prayers, asking God to bless them with strength, peace, and abundant love.
