Pathways

National Careers Week at Caroline Chisholm College is a perfect time to shine a spotlight on the many opportunities, pathways and possibilities available to our students as they discover what their bright futures can look like. Here’s a snapshot of all that’s been happening in the last fortnight alone!

Year 10 students Matilda and Ruby attended the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Senior Students Forum yesterday, hosted by Jarara Cultural Centre and CathWest Innovation College. The forum provided valuable opportunities for students to explore post-school pathways through a powerful and moving keynote presentation, student panel, careers expo and cultural activity workshops. Students also connected with universities, employers and community organisations to gain advice and insights into future study and career options.

We were excited to support the Regional Industry Education Partnerships Program – Early Childhood Education Futures 2026, with Years 9 and 10 students Tiana, Amelia, Chloe and Yolla exploring careers in Early Childhood Education through hands-on activities, industry insights and networking opportunities with local professionals. Students gained valuable knowledge about child development, play-based learning and future pathways in the sector, with special thanks to Jared Wilson for coordinating such an engaging experience.

Our Year 10 iSTEM class has received the exciting news that they have successfully secured a Soaring Scholarship from Western Sydney International Airport. Congratulations to Isabel, who worked collaboratively with her classmates to develop an innovative initiative focused on strengthening STEM education. Well done to Ms Megan Blakers and the entire Year 10 iSTEM class on this outstanding achievement. The class also met with the Community Engagement & Social Impact team from WSIA to discuss their idea and explore future STEM opportunities across Western Sydney - an inspiring conversation about collaboration, industry connections and creating future pathways for our students. Thank you to Western Sydney International Airport for providing such wonderful opportunities. See the video here

Our Discover the UNIVERSE Lunch and Learn series has attracted huge audiences as students explored opportunities with Macquarie University, The University of Notre Dame Australia, The University of Sydney and Western Sydney University. Students gained an exciting insight into university life through engaging presentations covering courses, pathway programs, diplomas, early entry, adjustment factors, scholarships, global opportunities and vibrant campus experiences. Take a look at our short video featuring Year 11 students Lily, Iraj and Crystel as they share what they discovered about studying at WSU!

Students were inspired at a recent Lunch and Learn with Caroline Chisholm College alumnae Leisa Mulheron (Class of 2007), who shared her honest and empowering journey from school to building a successful career at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation as a Project Manager and AI Champion. Through interactive activities and personal insights, Leisa encouraged students to reflect on their strengths, communication skills, resilience and the importance of staying curious and open to opportunities. Her powerful message reminded students that career pathways are rarely linear, and that growth, learning and stepping outside your comfort zone can lead to exciting and meaningful futures.

Another wonderful role model - and one we’re incredibly proud of - is former College Captain and Class of 2016 graduate Chantelle Al-Khouri, who recently completed a posting to the United States as North American Correspondent for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Covering major global stories ranging from the White House to the historic NASA Artemis II mission, Chantelle continues to inspire our community through her passion, professionalism and outstanding achievements in journalism. We congratulate Chantelle on her remarkable career journey so far and look forward to following her future successes.
