Year 9 Try-A-Trade

Our Year 9 students recently participated in the Try-A-Trade bricklaying program at Skill Hire in Forrestfield, which provided a valuable introduction to the construction industry. Throughout the day, students learned how to mix mortar, measure and plan a work area, and lay bricks using safe and accurate techniques. They worked with a qualified trainer who demonstrated each step, answered questions, and shared insights into real career pathways within the building and construction sector.

Students enjoyed the opportunity to work with professional tools and materials in a realistic training environment. Many commented on how rewarding it was to see their progress as they built small structures and solved practical challenges. 

The program helped students build confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while giving them a clearer understanding of future trade options. It was a positive and engaging experience for all involved, and we look forward to offering similar opportunities in the future.

VET Spotlight

We warmly congratulate Alumni Isabella Tomkin (Class of 2024) who, after completing her Certificate III in Makeup, went on to achieve a Diploma of Screen and Media (Specialist Makeup). Since graduating she has continued to develop her creative skills and expand her experience within the industry. Isabella recently had her work featured in an exhibition, which provided a valuable opportunity to showcase her talent to a wider audience. We are proud of her achievements and look forward to seeing her future successes.
