CSEN Cross Country

On a chilly morning, the secondary school team headed out to CSEN cross country at Bundoora Park. The secondary students competed in the A division of the competition running either 3 or 4 kilometers. Once the races commenced, teams were sent out in 5-minute intervals and students were constantly heading towards the finish line ready for us to cheer them on. The team came sixth in the A-division competition.
The primary team, consisting of Grade 3s to 6s, arrived for their competition in the afternoon, running 2 or 3 kilometers. The primary students competed in the B-division with many of the Grade 3s running the course for the first time. To prepare them for the course, the students had morning and afternoon training sessions at school and at Victory Road Reserve, which helped to build stamina and prepare the students for the steep portions of the course. The following age groups won their division:
- Under 13 girls team;
- Under 11 girls team;
- Under 10 boys team; and
- Under 9 boys team.
Christway students competed in races with up to 70 students from schools all over Melbourne and Victoria. The individual Christway students that achieved a top 10 placing in the overall competition are:
- Gideon Fisher
- Gabrielle Thomson
- Lottie Fisher
- Levi Utley
- Zeddy Simmons
- Sienah Harrington
- Oaklee Fang
- Adriella Ochom
All the students ran well and pushed themselves to achieve their best, spurring on their teammates. Congratulations, to all the students!
