Introducing 'New' Staff

Haijin Zhu

My name is Haijin, and I am a passionate educator with extensive experience in teaching, learning, and educational leadership. At the beginning of 2025, I was thrilled to join Christway Kingston as a Mathematics teacher. While it was bittersweet to leave Wellington Secondary College after 17 years of dedicated service, I embraced this new chapter with excitement and gratitude.

My teaching journey began in 2000 at a public school in Shanghai, shortly after earning a Bachelor of Science from East China Normal University. In 2002, I moved to Melbourne to pursue a Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Melbourne. However, upon graduation, I realized that teaching was my true calling. In 2005, I officially began my teaching career in Australia after completing a Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) at Monash University.

Over the past 20 years, I have taught nearly all secondary Mathematics subjects. In recent years, I have specialized in teaching VCE Mathematical Methods for both Units 1/2 and Units 3/4. My experience as a VCE Mathematical Methods assessor last year has further enhanced my ability to support students in achieving strong academic outcomes.

Working at Christway Kingston has been a deeply rewarding experience. The close-knit community, the supportive leadership team, and the warm welcome from my colleagues have made me feel truly at home. I find great joy in helping students both inside and outside the classroom, and I am grateful for the opportunity to practice my Christian faith daily. May God bless our community, and may all our students fulfill their life goals through their educational journey.

Outside of work, I cherish spending time with my family. As a mum and a wife, I enjoy traveling, watching movies, hiking, and exploring different cuisines. I also love going to the gym, practicing calligraphy, playing table tennis and badminton, and reading.
