House Performing Arts

WOW! What an amazing event the House Performing Arts was for our secondary students here at Christway College. I was extremely proud of our House Captains for helping to put on such a fabulous show for the school community. Congratulations to Bethel for taking out first place!

Over the space of Term 2, Secondary school students were given 4 rehearsal times in their House groups to put together a performance, showcasing the amazing talents and gifts that God has given out Performing Arts students. This year students were given a song and asked to create a drama that led into the song to be put on show in competition style. Students made sure their House color was well represented on stage along with the students abilities being well displayed and celebrated.

The participation and enthusiasm by our students was fantastic and it looked like everyone enjoyed the freedom to be creative as there was a real buzz around the school in the lead up as well as on the day.

Our special guest adjudicator was Alyssa Allet ‘Alzzy’ who is a Performing Artist in Melbourne. “Alzzy is the indie-pop artist project of Melbourne-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Alyssa constantly challenges herself to push the boundaries and discover new ways of cultivating her artistry, in the hope that those who listen to her music would be impacted for the better - uplifted, encouraged and empowered to realise their own potential”

I truly believe that our students at Christway were encouraged by Alzzy’s music and inspired to start some song writing of their own - it was so special to have someone come and perform to our students and give an authentic performance from her career.

A special congratulations to the follow students for their special awards that contributed toward their house total: Sydney Maina (Best Dancer), Selina Chan (Best Drama Performer), Hannah Pendala (Best Vocalist), Abigail Lee (Best Instrumentalist) and Rebekah Davey (Best Costume) and The Blue Fairies (Best Costume). And a special thank you to all the teachers that were involved in the staff surprise dance – such a highlight!

The community are already looking forward to next year’s competition – well done to all involved.

Finding Nemo JR

Rehearsals for the Primary Musical ‘Finding Nemo JR’ are well underway and students have been working so hard memorising their lines, learning their songs and putting together the dance numbers. The students are getting ready to showcase this event to the school community next term.

It has been so much fun working with such an amazing group of students. Thank you to Mrs Fairweather, Mrs Corera and Mrs Awad for helping our students to absolutely shine in the roles that they are playing on stage in September. Keep up the great work, Primary students!
