From the Head of Academic Culture's Desk

For a number of years senior students at Christway College have participated in Study Skills training delivered by trainers from Elevate Education. Each of the trainers is a bright and vivacious young person who completed their VCE with an extremely high ATAR score. They share the secrets of their success, the habits and strategies they developed to tackle revision, exam practice, notetaking and memorisation.

The Senior students have benefitted from this, so in 2025, we decided to expand the Study Skills Program to include every secondary level with sessions aimed at meeting the needs of each year level. Topics covered include Using Mnemonics and Other Memory Aids; Study Skills, Time Management; Exam Preparation, The VCE finishing line – making the end count; Study Skills for the Junior Years, and more.

I felt it was a good time to report back to you on how this program has been received by our students.

The following quotes are from student feedback forms from various year levels, completed at the end of the study sessions.

  • 10/10, the information was clear, concise and it was extremely helpful to be able to take the workbook and view it later.
  • I found the program really helpful and it showed me many ways I can improve in my studies.
  • The “Three Week Steps” before your exam was truly good for me.
  • It was very informative and interactive and made me rethink my study habits.
  • I learned that preparation is 80% of excellence.
  • The program would have been better if they had provided lollies.
  • The program is perfect. I have no advice for improvement.
  • 10/10

The next two scheduled sessions are for Year 7 and 8 students and focus on Time Management Skills. These sessions will occur on the first day back next term.  Be sure to ask your child when they come home, what they learned and how they can implement their Time Management strategies at home. At Christway College, we are committed to the development of good habits in our students believing good habits are the key to reaching individual potential in student’s senior years. It is so important to be READY - equipped and prepared for the challenge.

Parents can also access free parent seminars offered by Elevate Education to help support their children with the challenges of Secondary School.
