School History
We have been doing a little bit of research on our school's backstory. We have found out about how the school started to be built on the 4th of February 1970 all started when Italians where migrating from Italy to Australia. They were going to church regularly. St Gabriel's was getting too full, so they decided to build a church and name it after St Joseph. Father Yu had just become a catholic priest, and he needed his own church, so he started the process. In 1973, the church was officially completed. Then in 1977, two tennis courts and a soccer field were built. In 1978 the first part of the school was built, and 94 students attended the first year.
2018 Fire
The big fire of 2018 was a large fire that was discovered by Michael. Michael got to school really early. Luckily, he always does. Michael turned the alarm off and turned the lights on his classroom. Then the lights went on and off. Wondering what was wrong, he walked outside and discovered the asphalt was covered in smoke. Then he walked over to the chicken coop, he thought the smoke was coming from the houses across the creek. Michael touched the glass of the library building, but it wasn’t hot. He opened the door and smoke came out. He closed the door, and at that moment he suddenly knew the school was on fire. Luckily another teacher just arrived, and he asked her to ring 000 and call the fire brigade. Michael could hear a siren. He opened the double gates and walked to the road as the fire truck drove in. He showed them where to go. He was on his own. The fire brigade asked Michael lots of questions. But Michael answered them all. Five minutes more and the school would have burned down. Thanks to Michael the school was saved, and we are here today!
