Maths in JLA!

This term, our Year 1/2 mathematicians have been diving deep into the world of number and place value – and let us tell you, it's been an absolute blast! 🧮✨

Game Time Galore

To help reinforce these key concepts, we've been playing a variety of games that have made learning feel like a thrilling adventure. The class had an absolute blast with Knock Knock, a game where they practice identifying numbers and breaking them down into their place value parts. And who doesn’t love a good round of Place Value Bingo? The classroom was filled with cheers and shouts of excitement as students matched numbers and called out their winning cards. 🏆

Place Value Creatures: A MAB-tastic Creation

One of the highlights of our learning journey this term has been the creation of Place Value Creatures! 🐉 Using MAB pictures (Multibase Arithmetic Blocks), students have built their very own creatures with tens and ones. Some students created towering creatures with long “tens” for bodies and tiny “ones” for legs, while others crafted wild, wacky monsters with all sorts of place value features. It was a fun and hands-on way to bring numbers to life.
