Lent ~ Ash Wednesday Mass
Last Wednesday, the school and parish communities gathered at morning mass, to mark the beginning of Lent and celebrate Ash Wednesday. Parishioners, staff and students received the ash and the words, “Repent and remember the Gospel.”
During the season of Lent, we renew our relationship with God, Jesus and each other, we reflect on what has been and seek forgiveness and mercy in ourselves and others. Through the Three Pillars of Lent: Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving, we deepen our relationships and seek to have a change of heart.
Lenten Journey
In classrooms, students and staff are participating in daily prayer, looking for opportunities to fast by giving their time, talents and skills to help others and giving acts of love and kindness as Almsgiving. To help make this time of preparation, our school community is observing and naming moments of prayer, fasting and acts of love and kindness given in the school community. Each class is collecting a chickpea record of these acts of service and contributing these to the display in the office.
The theme for Lent 2025 is, “Let us journey together in hope,” and Pope Francis has shared a letter to the Catholic community around the world. Further reading and reflections can be found through the following link,

Jubilee ~ Pilgrims of Hope
As we continue our Jubilee journey as Pilgrims of Hope, we continue to unpack and engage with the symbols and imagery of Jubilee. Each element of the logo was chosen with care and purpose, mindful of our Tradition.
In addition to the logo is the Jubilee Mascot- Luce (Italian for Light) and a friends. Again, each element of Luce is chosen with purpose, to reflect the themes of Jubilee.
Meet Luce and friends, Luce (yellow), Fe (red), Xin (green), Sky (blue), Santo (dog), Iubi (angel) and Aura (dove).
Our staff and students will engage with and unpack the meanings and significance of these mascots and symbolism in the coming weeks.
Pope Francis
As many of you will be aware, Pope Francis is unwell and receiving treatment in hospital. We offer prayers for his health, wellbeing and enduring courage in this difficult time.
Go gently and be well,
Kate
