We have been so lucky this term to have many opportunities for our students to participate and shine in a huge variety of ways!
Many of these events have already been mentioned, however it is important to note others that have occurred in the later half of the term. Our Prep/1s are in week 2 of their swimming lessons, following on from the fabulous year 2/3 students. Our youngest students are relishing this opportunity to learn new swimming techniques and hopefully set them up for a successful summer ahead.
The Year 2 students visited Legoland this week as a part of their Design and Technology unit, participating in Lego making workshops and having enormous fun whilst learning.
Our Year 6 students enthusiastically participated in the summer sport Lightning Premiership on Tuesday. They represented Hillsmeade demonstrating our values of Kindness, Respect and Resilience at all times.
Just this last weekend, our team of 16 students participated in the Victorian State Schools Spectacular, performing twice at John Cain Arena. Each student was outstanding as they represented Hillsmeade with pride and overwhelming enthusiasm! I had the privilege of watching the matinee performance and it was a high energy, engaging show all round. Congratulations to Mrs Lisa Scott and Ms Carmen Collins on leading our students through the preparations and performances!

Last week our year 4 students went to Phillip Island Adventure Resort for camp. By all reports they had a sensational and fun-filled three days with lots of activities to choose from and delicious food options. There were a few tired and weary people around Friday afternoon, I'm sure the students felt the same!!!
Today our District Athletics team are finally competing after many rescheduled dates. We are super proud of their efforts and wish them the very best of luck.
Coming up to finish off the term we will have Footy Day on the last day of school - Friday 18th September. Looking forward to this annual event! Perhaps there may also be some new Carlton converts this year!!
Please make sure to keep your eye on calendars so that you can plan ahead accordingly.
Important whole school dates to remember:
These will run next week Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th September. Bookings close today at 3.00pm. Please ensure you have booked via Compass so you can see your child's teacher and discuss ongoing reporting and goals for the remainder of the year.
We are so excited to welcome our newest members of the Hillsmeade family for 2027. Transition sessions start next term on Tuesday 27th October. Please contact the office if you have any further questions, however more 2027 information for enrolled families will be sent via email soon.
