And just like that… Term 3 is almost over! 🎉
It has been another busy and exciting term in the Careers Department, with students across Years 7–12 exploring subjects, careers, VET courses, work experience, university, TAFE, apprenticeships, and everything in between.
🚀 Careers conversations aren't just for Year 12!
When you think about careers, you might immediately think about ATARs, university applications or getting a job. But careers education starts much earlier than that.
Whether you're in Year 7 or Year 12, there are things you can be doing now to help shape your future.
Maybe you've discovered a subject you love.
Maybe you've realised something isn’t for you! 😄
Maybe you've tried something new and discovered a hidden talent.
Or maybe you have absolutely no idea what you want to do yet – and that's completely okay!
Your career journey is about exploring, discovering, and learning about yourself along the way.

As our Year 12 VCE students begin their trial exams, we would like to wish them every success.
Trial exams are an important opportunity to put your knowledge into practice, experience exam conditions and identify areas you may wish to focus on as you prepare for your final exams.
Remember to prepare well, manage your time, look after yourself and do your best. Try not to focus on being perfect — focus on giving each exam your best effort and learning from the experience.
Good luck, Year 12s! We are proud of the hard work and commitment you have shown throughout the year and wish you every success in your trial exams. You've got this!

You might be surprised where one conversation, one experience or one new idea can lead.

You don't have to have your whole future figured out.
Your pathway might change. Your interests might change. Your goals might change – and that's all part of the journey.
The important thing is to stay curious, try things, ask questions, and take opportunities when they come your way.

Don't just think about your future – explore it!
Watch a careers video. Visit a university or TAFE website. Talk to someone who works in an industry you're interested in. Try something new. Research a career you've never heard of. Small steps today can open big possibilities tomorrow.
Christmas Employment Opportunities
✅5 Tips to Get a Christmas Casual Job
Many retail stores are currently taking applications for Christmas casuals, so if you’re in the market for a bit of work over the holiday season, it’s go time for applications.
It might be hard to believe, but Christmas is just over 3 months away, and what’s the first thing everyone thinks of when they hear Christmas? Busy shopping centres. And what do busy shopping centres mean? Demand for Christmas casual employees!
1. Have your resume ready
Have your resume ready to go. You’ll be applying online and in person so have a couple of printed copies on hand. Don’t wait until your favourite stores starts advertising before you update your resume because it might take longer than you realize, and you could miss your chance.
2. Keep an eye out for advertisements
Most large retailers recruit through their websites, but it’s still worthwhile keeping an eye out for advertisements in shop windows. Check online job boards and ask your family and friends to let you know if they hear about jobs becoming available, as they might even be able to put in a good word for you.
3. Don’t be picky with hours
The reality of being a Christmas casual is that you will be working while everyone else is enjoying a break. The upside is that you can earn ‘penalty rates’ which means you are paid a higher hourly rate than usual. Be available to pick up as many shifts as you can.
4. Be ready to learn quickly
Christmas casuals are brought in to cover a busy period, so you need to pick up the role quickly if you want to keep getting shifts. That doesn’t mean you should take shortcuts, but the faster you learn, the better.
5. Don’t limit yourself
Just because you’ve never worked in retail or hospitality before doesn’t mean you shouldn’t apply for a position, and the same rule applies to other common Christmas casual jobs. Don’t narrow your options out of fear of trying something new.
