We love checking in with our talented and supportive alumni community.
Take a look below at what some of our alumni are up to!
Teneille Collins
NBC Class Of 2019
Outdoor Educator & Masters of Secondary Teaching
When Teneille Collins attended her first Outdoor Education camp at NBC it changed her life. She enjoyed camping in the Bogong high country so much, she decided to follow it into a career.
After completing her Bachelor of Outdoor Leadership, Teneille now works as an Outdoor Educator, taking groups of students on camps across the state and country.
It’s a job she loves, because she sees the growth and transformation that takes place on camps, how different a student can be when they arrive, to when they leave. She finds the work rewarding and loves sharing her passion for the outdoors.
Teneille is now enrolled in a Masters of Education, to become an Outdoor Ed teacher, just like her favourite NBC teacher. Teneille’s mantra? “Find what inspires you and hold onto it”.
Shae Charlton
NBC Class Of 2020
Interior Designer
Shae was happiest in her art classes at NBC, and thrived under the guidance of her teachers, so she followed her passion onto studying Interior Design at Collarts.
Having now finished her studies, Shae has just signed up her first project for her own freelance Interior Design Business, and loves working in a creative industry.
Why does she love Interior Design so much? In her words, "Nothing is certain in the future of design".
Jonny Kelly
NBC Class Of 2021
Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Deakin University.
When Jonny was at school, he loved the SEED program and the social aspect of school, but the subjects he studied helped him understand what he enjoyed and his strengths, which led him into engineering.
Jonny is currently finishing his Bachelor of Civil Engineering, in between working as a fire draftsman, and an intern rail engineer during university holidays.
He loves engineering, because of its importance in society, and also because it’s such a broad field, with access to so many pathways.
Cody Jeynes
NBC Class Of 2022
Bachelor of Space Science, RMIT.
When Cody was little, he wanted to be a superhero, but he’s had to settle for space expert instead!
Cody surprised himself at school, he applied, and tried, and did well. When he studied VCE physics, in particular, it opened his eyes to future study possibilities, especially in a field he had always been interested in: space.
Cody accepted a place into RMIT’s Bachelor of Space Science and hasn’t looked back since.
Cody says, “Dreams change, life changes, jobs change, we change. It's never truly too late, if you fail there is always another path, if you get sick of how your life is you can work to change it. A moment rarely defines you for life.”
Maryam Habibi
NBC Class Of 2020
Bachelor of Law + Commerce | Legal Assistant.
Maryam has been interested in the law, especially immigration law, since she was little. So, it’s no surprise she has found her way into a combined Bachelor of Law & Commerce at Deakin, as well as recently gaining a dream job at Legal Aid Victoria.
She encourages all NBC students, especially girls, to aim high in their studies and career paths and for all students to take advantage of opportunities.
