Family Learning Centre
April 2025
Across Northern Bay College and our Family Learning Centre we celebrate inclusiveness and creating a sense of belonging and respect for everyone. Harmony Week provides an opportunity to celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity.
2025 Theme is 'Harmony week - we all have a role to play!'
(Monday 17 - Sunday 23 March)
We celebrate about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
Our Family Learning Centre staff and children dressed up in orange to show support for Harmony Week, and many also chose to wear traditional clothing. This was a beautiful way for all staff, families and children to showcase and feel proud of their heritage and cultural backgrounds, and share family stories.
Many staff and children dressed up in orange to show support for Harmony Week. A great opportunity to promote the values of inclusivity, respect and sharing cultural pride with young children through dress, art activities, stories, food and songs.

A beautiful way to showcase our diversity and family culture across our early years community, and a great way for children to feel proud of their heritage. Our event was truly a celebration of our wonderful community. Here are some things people enjoyed:
We have had such a wonderful term in the Community Hub and it has been wonderful to see the friendships and connections made.
This term we welcomed Wyndham CEC’s AMEP program into the Hub and we have 2 different levels of English classes. It has been fantastic to see the development of the participants confidence when speaking this term, there has been lots of conversation and lots of laughter which is wonderful. We are lucky enough to have a childminder to support our English classes so families can bring their preschool aged children along.
Our Monday sewing group have been making some wonderful creations for their families and as this program relies on donations -- so we are always seeking material donations. Please contact Narelle if you have any material to donate.
Also - term 2 will see the return of our Community Kitchen Cooking Program at GTTIC. If you are interested in learning some yummy recipes and cooking in a commercial kitchen then please contact Narelle to register.
The Toy Library has been wonderful this term and we have some new toys ready for lending, so please come and join our FREE Toy Library.
It is open during school terms:
Monday’s 2pm-3pm
Friday’s 11am-12pm
We are also seeking Toy Library volunteers so if you have an hour or so a week to share, we’d love to hear from you.
Term 2 is set to be another fantastic term with lots of activities planned, so if you haven’t yet come to check it out, please come and say Hi.

If it takes a village to raise a child then the Family Learning Centre is your village. We hope and aim all members and all families from across our service enjoy a strong sense of belonging, connection and community, making life-long friends along the way.
As we break for the school term we take this opportunity to wish all our families all the absolutely wonderful and restful holiday, and hope that we have much to celebrate together throughout the year.
