Congratulations to the students selected for the 2026 Prefect Team! Students underwent a rigorous application and interview process, through which we met and heard from some incredible Year 11 students.

We are excited to announce two student roles in the area of STEM. This is based on student feedback, the investment of the school into widening our STEM offerings and some amazing interviews.

House Prefect (Chang): Tanishi S

Tanishi wants to strengthen our sense of community here at school. She has a wide range of ideas about how to improve House initiatives and build upon work started by our current House leaders' team. We know her extensive leadership experience, in particular being Treasurer of the SRC Executive Council this year, will serve her well in enacting some of these changes.

House Prefect (Irwin): Kallin D

Kallin has also been an active member of our school community, participating in Year 9 school for student leadership, Year 10 as a House community captain, a lead in our school productions and part of our new BHHS Anti-Racism working party. He wants to improve school spirit and sees our House system as an opportunity for students to build connections with others they may not normally interact with.

House Prefect (Blackburn): Shi Jing G

Shi Jing has widely contributed to our school community as a member of Tech Crew and previous leader groups, including as a Year 10 House Captain. She has been a familiar face at whole school events such as RUOK Day, Open days, year level assemblies, music concerts and talent shows. She will lead with kindness to involve students of all ages in our House events.

House Prefect (Freeman): Anika J

Anika has extensive leadership experience. Over and above formal positions, she has participated in a wide range of extra curriculars. She is a Monash Scholar, SRC Co-President for 2025 and currently representing youth voices on the Box Hill Youth Advisory Committee. Most importantly though, she has a vison to increase House spirit and help provide our school with more House activities that go over and above sports carnivals.

Arts Prefect: Gareema R

Gareema's passion for the Arts is clear. She has been in three school productions and is currently completing VCE Drama. Her goal is to improve the participation of students in Arts subjects and can’t wait to relaunch Drama Club. She has been part of the Australian Girls Choir and a tour leader on the most recent New Zealand trip, demonstrating her ability to manage others and enact ideas.

Community Prefect: Genevieve P

Genevieve has extensive leadership experience across her time at school - Class Captain, SRC member, Year 10 Peer Support leader & Irwin Community Captain. She is a strong communicator, organised, takes initiative and loves our diverse school community. As Community prefect she will celebrate our student body. We know she will use her confidence to have a real positive impact on our school.

Sustainability Prefect: Oscar S

Oscar is a humble leader and has led by consistently turning up and contributing week on week to Sustainability Club events and initiatives. He already has had a significant impact on improving sustainability at this school and will be an excellent mentor to younger students who share these similar interests.

Sports Prefect: Sophie C

Sophie is driven by a love for sport and sees this role as an opportunity to encourage more enjoyment of sport. She has wide experience in sport offered at school having participated in soccer, basketball, netball, athletics and cross country. We look forward to seeing her ability to seek feedback from younger students and use their voice to shape our interschool and lunchtime sport offerings.

International Prefect: Mia G

Mia has been involved in many activities run at school promoting celebration of our school’s diversity including celebrations of Lunar New Year and other cultural activities. She has been a winner of the BHHS Talent show and participated in interschool badminton. She is kind and outgoing and looks forward to being the voice for international students within our school.

SRC Prefect: Milly F

Milly’s passion for our student body is clear. She is determined to be the voice for as many students as possible. She has been a long-standing member of SRC and already has made a significant impact through leading projects. She is currently a Co-President of SRC and will be able to seamlessly step into the SRC Prefect role.

STEM Prefect: Amelia L

Amelia’s passion for science is infectious. She has been an active leader in our school community throughout her years here, being part of the SRC, a Peer Support leader, Sustainability Club and Tech Crew. We look forward to her contributions to promoting participation of younger students, in particular that of girls, in science programs and workshops.

STEM Prefect: James N

James attended the School for Student Leadership in Year 9, has been a lead in our school productions, an active member of Sustainability Club and Tech Crew. He has a lot to offer our school in promoting STEM. He has a passion for technology and how things work. We look forward to him implementing his ideas about introducing more clubs for students and helping students learn about how things around us work.
