Community Safety

By Mr Michael Oaten, Assistant Principal

The roads and streets around BHHS are very busy and offer significant risks to people if safety measures are not followed by pedestrians. To help ensure the safety of our young people in the community, please support the messages we convey with our students at school through conversation with your child/children at home.

  • If your child rides to school, please ensure they wear a helmet at all times and use the bike lanes on the road. Children aged 12 years or younger can ride on footpaths. People older than this may ride on a footpath if they are riding with a child aged 12 or younger.

  • Always stick to the left when on a shared path.

  • Students should only be crossing roads at pedestrian crossings / Middleborough Road underpass.

  • If listening to a device with headphones, students crossing roads should remove the ear piece(s) to alert their senses to any potential dangers or hazards prior to crossing.
