Fundraising for Cancer Council Vic
by Ms Kylie Pearson, School Librarian

On Saturday 25 October, Year 11 student Milly F shaved her head after exceeding her fundraising target and raising over $2600 for the Cancer Council Victoria.
Milly, who came up with the idea in the July 2025 school holidays, was motivated to put her ‘locks on the line’ after multiple family members were impacted by cancer.
What an amazing effort, Milly! Well done!
Milly's reflection:
I really wanted to raise money for this charity after I became aware of how much it does for those impacted by cancer.
My cousins had raised money through a walking event and one had shaved his head, and I was inspired by what he had done and how much he had raised. I decided that I could raise money by putting a price on my hair which is what I did. Initially I put on $1000 but when I reached this target quickly, I doubled this and was so happy when I reached and then exceeded my target again.
I really want to thank my friends and family for supporting me and helping me exceed my target. Cancer Council is always accepting donations, so if you would like to support cancer research and prevention a quick click on their website would go a long way.
This cause was promoted on Instagram using the hashtag #MakeAmeliaBaldAgain.
