Junior School update

by Mr Nic Barca, Head of Junior School

As we head into the final term of the year, the warmer months bring a great opportunity for our Junior School students to put their best foot forward and finish on a positive note.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve made it a key priority to visit every Year 7 and 8 class to ensure we’ve had a productive start to Term 4. I’m pleased to say that all 512 Junior School students have settled back in really well. It’s been fantastic to see the energy and effort across classrooms. A special shoutout to Mr Rogers’ Year 8 Music class, who recently composed and performed their own songs during my visit. The creativity and confidence on display were brilliant!

A reminder that Year 8 Camp is fast approaching in Week 9. This is a huge event on the Junior School calendar, with months of planning devoted to ensuring it’s a memorable experience. We strongly encourage all Year 8 students to attend; it’s the perfect way to celebrate the year and prepare for their transition into Middle School. Please note that there is no alternative program running for Year 8 students during this time.

Formal classes for all Year 7 and 8 students will conclude in Week 9 on Friday 5 December, with our End of Year Program taking place in Week 10. Students will rotate through a Wellbeing Day and a Domain Day, offering a mix of reflection and celebration.

On Tuesday 9 December, all Year 7 and 8 students will be off-site, either at the Melbourne Zoo or Healesville Sanctuary, and on Friday 12 December, we’ll finish the year with a whole-school excursion to Gumbuya World for Years 7–9. Compass events are live now for consent and payment.

As we move through this busy and exciting term, we ask for continued parent support in maintaining calm and consistent routines at home. This helps our students stay focused and positive right through to the end of the year. High expectations around attendance, punctuality, and uniform standards make a huge difference in setting the tone for a strong finish to 2025.

Thank you for your ongoing support, it’s been a fantastic year so far, and I’m really proud of the way our Junior School students continue to represent themselves and our community.
