One-derful Class Chronicles
Term 3 Week 2 2026 - Friday 24th July
What have we been up to?
It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back for Term 3 and to see the excitement and enthusiasm the children have shown for returning to school. The students have settled back into our classroom routines beautifully and are ready for another fun and busy term of learning.
To begin the term, we revisited our classroom expectations and worked together to set new academic, personal and class WIGs (Wildly Important Goals) to help guide our learning throughout the term.
In Reading and Writing, we have explored concrete and haiku poems, learning about the features of each style before creating our own poems. In Mathematics, we have been measuring the length of different objects using informal units and explaining our mathematical thinking using appropriate mathematical language.

Phonics
These are what we will be focussing on each week in our phonics lessons.

Reading & Writing
Students will continue exploring a variety of poetry styles throughout the term. We will be learning about rhyming, imagery and descriptive poems, identifying the features of each before creating our own. This unit will help students expand their vocabulary, use descriptive language, express their creativity and build confidence as writers.
Mathematics
Students will continue measuring using informal units as they compare and measure the length, height, mass and capacity of different objects using hands-on materials. They will also begin exploring repeating patterns and skip counting, developing their number knowledge while explaining their mathematical thinking using appropriate mathematical language.
Inquiry
Students will begin our Past and Present unit, exploring how people, places and daily life have changed over time. They will investigate similarities and differences between the past and present and develop an understanding of how communities evolve.
