Carlsruhe Annexe / 

Main Campus - Year 4

The last two weeks have been busy for 4LS and 4AD with the final rotation of students at Carlsruhe for 2025. While 4AD (and Miss Dodds) are sad not to be going to Carlsruhe every day, 4LS have been reacquainting themselves with the animals, gardens and routines out at Carlsruhe. 

In Reading, we have been reading procedure tasks, summarising and following instructions. We have made some cool things out of paper! In Writing, we have been writing procedure tasks.

 

In Maths we have been learning efficient strategies for solving division equations. We have strengthened our understanding of the connection between multiplication and division. This week we have started our Time and Location unit. We are excited for our Loch Ness Monster project next week!

 

Thank you for your support with our upcycling bag making home task. Students have been so excited to design these during class time. We can’t wait to see them next week. 

 

A new rotation of the Animal Roster has been sent out. We still have a few gaps. If you are able to help, please fill in your name on an empty week. Thank you!

 

Maths - MAV Maths Game Day

Mathematical Association of Victoria Maths Games Day is a team-based event where students work together to solve mathematical puzzles, strategy games, and problem-solving challenges. These activities encourage:

  • Lateral and critical thinking

  • Teamwork and communication

  • Mathematical reasoning in a fun setting

 

Evie, Hattie, Dante, Edward, Vaughn, Oscar, Hazel and Zoe represented Woodend PS and competed in teams of four in relay rounds, strategy and partner games. While the competition was a part of the day, the main focus was on enjoyment, collaboration, and a positive attitude toward learning mathematics.

Finally, thank you to all those parents who helped with our Friday Activities. The success of this program is dependent on our wonderful parent helpers. Our final rotation of Activities for 4LS and 4SM will begin Week 2 of Term 4.
