Melbourne Writers Festival

Mr Norris, Ms Harper & Ms Welton - Year 4 teachers

On Tuesday, May 6th, our Grade 4 students attended the Melbourne Writers Festival's Primary Schools Day at the State Library Victoria. They enjoyed engaging sessions with four remarkable authors who brought stories to life through humour, imagination, and heartfelt messages.

  • Nabeel Khan blended art and narrative, sharing with us the secret language of the magic of mathematics in writing.
  • Nat Amoore sparked creativity with her interactive storytelling, encouraging students to imagine fantastical worlds hidden in everyday places (the shower for one!). Florence and Jensen took to the stage to have their moment in the spotlight and act out a very engaging scene.
  • Jess Sanders discussed themes of self-love and empowerment, encouraging students to embrace their individuality and uniqueness. Albie P impressed the room with his insightful suggestion of a book title “Be you, not them”.To close the presentations,
  • Reece Carter shared how a spooky late-night encounter inspired his ghostly characters in his trilogy, thrilling students with tales from his Elston-Fright series.

The students left the festival buzzing with inspiration, eager to dive into new books and create stories of their own.
