School Council

The most recent School Council meeting was held on Monday 19th May 2025.
Some items covered in the meeting included:
- Preliminary NAPLAN results – the school is proud of the overall results. Data to compare against similar schools is not yet available. The results help to inform the school’s curriculum focus areas. The Department members shared some of their experiences of working with the school’s literacy consultant to ensure literacy learning for the students is reflective of individual student abilities and that literacy teaching and learning is always purposeful.
- Parents’ and Carers’ Association – is looking for new members and a President. The PCA is vital in assisting the school to put on community events and with the fundraising that comes from these events.
- School budget – a presentation was provided that covered the objectives and approach to the setting of the budget, along with an explanation on the revenue and funding model, summary of expenditure, explanation of material movements from year-to-year and the school’s cash position. The overview was provided especially for the new Council members and for Bart Calman, who has kindly agreed to a transition to become the new Treasurer.
- Buildings and grounds – the recently developed master plan was discussed, along with some shorter-term priorities.
- Child Safe Standards – Council members undertook an interactive quiz on Child Safe Standards. This is an area that the school takes extremely seriously.
- BYOD policy – the survey results and feedback were discussed in relation to the BYOD policy.
