Early Bird Readers Club

Early Bird Readers Club

Our Early Bird Readers Club is off to a fantastic start in 2025! This program, first introduced at EPS in 2017, continues to thrive as a meaningful initiative that connects our enthusiastic Year 1 students with our dedicated Year 5 and 6 student leaders for morning reading sessions. Held before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, the program nurtures a love of reading, builds student confidence, and strengthens connections across year levels, all within a supportive and caring environment.

Each session, our Year 1 students enjoy the special experience of reading one-on-one with a Year 5 or 6 buddy. These older students act as reading mentors, offering guidance and encouragement. Through their involvement, our older students gain valuable leadership and communication skills, while our younger students benefit from the attention of a positive role model.

I would to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Seabrook and Mr Gardiner, our Year 5 teachers, who generously supervise and support the Early Bird Readers Club. Their dedication ensures the program runs smoothly and continues to make a lasting impact.

The Early Bird Readers Club is an example of how peer learning can inspire and uplift both younger and older students alike. We are very proud of the commitment and enthusiasm shown by everyone involved.

Happy reading!
