Maths
Over the next two weeks in Maths students will continue learn how to identify factors and multiples using materials and arrays. They will identify multiples of a number using the distributive property and identify factors of multiples using algorithms. Students will be participating in daily maths fluency activities to increase their tables knowledge. We will then move to solving multiplication equations using a variety of strategies including the distributive and associative property.
Applied maths learning will focus on data representation including creating dot plots, calculating the mode of a data set and interpreting line graphs.
Literacy
In writing students will continue to focus on narratives. They will watch short, animated clips to analyse internal and external character traits and practice introducing a character within their writing by being descriptive. To build writing stamina, they will respond to a prompt and work to complete a full narrative within a set time frame, strengthening both their creativity and focus.
In reading students will be learning about natural disasters. They will look at how bushfires, floods and droughts impact people and the environment. How people can prepare and prevent natural disasters and what government and non-government agencies can do to assist in a natural disaster. Our next Reading unit will focus on the text Waves. Students will explore various experiences of migration to Australi and investigate the need to be flexible, how characters respond to challenges and how positive attitudes can turn a problem into an opportunity.
Wellbeing
In the next two weeks students will be learning about emotional literacy. They will explore what stress is, the situations that make them stressed and how to manage stressful situations appropriately.
