BSC Swimming Carnival

A friendly reminder about our whole school House Swimming Carnival on Wednesday 25 February, at Oakleigh Recreation Centre. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a range of traditional swimming events such as freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly and freestyle relays, along with novelty events such as classic catch, water volleyball, noodle relay race, water treasure hunts and best - dressed competitions. 

Participation in these events allow students to earn points for their house, whilst also gaining entry into the Division Swimming Team, if successful. Students will be given information on how the carnival and events will run on the day during GOAL with their mentors. 

Event Signup: 

Students to sign up via the marshal before the start of the event(s) they wish to participate in on the day. This includes both Olympic and novelty events. We are looking forward to ALL students getting involved! 

Arrival: 

Students are to arrive at school at the usual time of 8:40am and head to their normal GOAL group venues at 8:50am for roll marking before proceeding to the Gym.

Dress: 

Students are encouraged to wear their house colours or their full Healthy Lifestyles/Sport uniform. Casual clothes are NOT permitted.

What to Bring:

• Appropriate swimming attire (bathers, goggles, swim cap)
• Towel
• Hat
• Sunscreen
• Water bottle
• Packed lunch/snacks (limited options available for purchase at the canteen)

Prohibited Items: 

The following items are not permitted and should be kept in lockers for the day:

• Mobile phones
• Airpods/earphones
• Speakers
• Balls

If found, items will be confiscated, and students will need to collect them from the front office at the end of the day. External food deliveries (e.g., Uber Eats, DoorDash, Menu Log etc.) are not allowed.

Attendance: 

As this is a whole school event, all students are expected to attend. No classes will be running at school on this day. We kindly request that parents do not attend the event.

Dismissal: 

Students will be dismissed from school at the normal time of 3:10pm.

Consent & Payment:

If you haven't already, kindly provide your consent and make the necessary payment on Compass by Thursday 19 February. In the event of exceptional circumstances preventing your child attending, please decline the event on Compass and enter an Attendance Note. Your prompt attention is crucial for the smooth running of this event.
