BOOK OF THE WEEK

Our recent books of the week have been “Fing” and “Ninja Kid 3 - Ninja switch”.

David Walliams is currently the fastest growing children’s book author in the U.K. and his books are equally as popular in Australia, with his books being translated into over 25 languages. His latest offering “Fing” is the story of two perfectly nice parents and their unbelievably monstrous daughter Myrtle.  Myrtle had everything, but still wants more. When she declares she wants a FING her poor long suffering parents go on a quest to try and find a Fing. Will they succeed? You will have to read the book to find out.

Anh Do of “Weirdo” and “Hot dog” fame has release a new series “Ninja kid” and the new book in the series - book three is titled - “Ninja switch”.  It is equally humourous, as his previous books and tells the story of Nelson who can’t wait for the athletics carnival. However, just when he needs his powers the most, they get switched .. with Grandma’s. How's he going to win ANYTHING when he runs and jumps like an old lady?!

Mandarin – Year Prep

The Prep students have enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year traditions and activities. They learned about Chinese Zodiac animals and were very happy to find out what their zodiac signs are. They seemed to be amused by the animal of 2019 — Year of the Pig!

The Prep students have also been learning greetings in Mandarin as well as classroom use languages. They have learned to count 1-10 in Mandarin as well as beginning to write these numbers in Mandarin! Writing Chinese characters is no easy task but the Prep students have been making impressive progress!
