CLASSROOM CLIPPINGS

Welcome to YEAR FOUR!
Term One has been a great start to the year, with all of the Year Four team, teachers and students, getting to know one another. We have all settled into our new spaces and are looking forward to what we know will be an enjoyable, challenging and fun-filled year.
We would like to introduce you to the Year Four teachers and Learning Support Officers that aide in educating your children each day; Mrs Carmel Vadala (Monday-Wednesday), Miss Erin Pretto (Monday-Friday), Mrs Rachel Giusti (Thursday -Friday), Mrs Sue Kennedy (Tuesday-Wednesday) and Mrs Lina Radatti (Thursday -Friday).
As part of our Statistics and Probability unit, focussing on Chance and Data, the children have been immersed in many hands on activities including, discussing the chance of events occurring on a scale of 0 to 1, how to collect using a table and interpret data in a table or represented in a graph. Students came up with a survey question and collected data from their peers, representing it by drawing up a column graph in their maths books. The students extended their thinking, being taught how to use Google Sheets on their Chromebooks to create an online graph to represent their findings.
Our Inquiry unit for this term “My Place, Our Place” has us looking at different features of Australia, including natural and human made landmarks. In Art, we followed directions from an online video on how to construct the Sydney Opera House out of paper plates. We now understand how challenging it was to create the Sydney Opera House back in 1959 and we only made it out of paper plates!
We look forward to continuing to work alongside you in 2019!
