St Patrick's Day Mass

Today Janelle Reid, Vanessa Headbury and I had the pleasure of taking fifteen of our Year Six School Leaders to St Patrick's Cathedral for the celebration of the Catholic Education Week Mass.  Focussing on the Feast of St Patrick, the mass was celebrated by the recently appointed Archbishop Peter A Comonsoli.  Archbishop Peter spoke to the children as being chosen by God and reminded them of the importance of following God's call in their lives.  The mass was attended by students from the hundreds of Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools from the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

Following the mass the students gathered in Treasury Gardens to enjoy a picnic lunch along with thousands of students and were entertained in the beautiful sunshine by outstanding performers form Catholic Secondary Schools.  Our children really got into the spirit of things, dancing and singing along with the performers.

One of the highlights of the train ride was a chance encounter with an absolutely delightful kelpie cross.  The children were kept entertained throughout the hour long train ride by their new four legged friend.

Janelle, Vanessa and I were so proud of the way the students conducted themselves throughout the day. They were great ambassadors for our school displaying courtesy and manners towards everyone they came across.

Congratulations to Ruby Raynes (top left) and Sarah Karakaltses (top right) on their awesome fundraising effort - combined total funds raised was a whopping $5,720.06. While not only a generous and selfless act, this was a great community building experience. It was fantastic to see the encouragement and applause from the audience.

Inspired by the resilience displayed by Ruby Raynes at Assembly on Thursday,  Talia Southy has summoned the courage to participate in the World's Greatest Shave.  This is something that Talia has been considering doing for quite some time in support of a dear friend with Leukemia and, watching Ruby inspired her to take that leap. Talia will be having her head shaved by Skye Gnaden (SFX Parent) at Thursday's Assembly.

Skye will be running a separate fund-raiser in support of the Leukemia Foundation in the coming weeks.  Please see Skye's email below advertising the event:
