SSV State Trials

Congratulations to all of our students who will be attending State Trials in their nominated sport in the coming few weeks. The talent and skill base is often very strong and state trials are very highly competitive. Wishing you good luck!

Cross Country Running Carnival & School Trials

Our SFX Cross Country School Trials will take place on Friday 29th March, 2019 at Petrie Park involving all of our middle and senior school students in Year Three to Year Six. As part of the H&PE Curriculum, Cross Country Running is a component of personal health, fitness and wellbeing and we encourage every students to give it a try and do their best.

As a result of these trials, the top ten students in each age category will be selected to represent the school at the District Cross Country Running event. This is to be held on Wednesday 8th May, 2016 at Lower Eltham Park. As with other School Sport Victoria (SSV) events, top qualifiers at this level will advance to compete at the Division level, further details of which will be provided as necessary at a later date.

Cross Country Running Club

Over the past few weeks, students in Years 3-6 have been practising and preparing for Cross Country Running as part of the H&PE Curriculum and in preparation for our Cross Country school trials. Students have already been made aware of this initiative during their PE sessions this week.

In support of the enthusiasm and interest demonstrated by our students, SFX staff have created an opportunity for extra training and practice in the form of Running Club. Middle and Senior school students are invited to run laps and sprints on the school oval, under staff supervision, each morning beginning at 8:30am through until about 8:45am, allowing students enough time to hydrate and enter their classrooms on time to begin their day.

Running Club begins Thursday 14th March, 8:30am on the school oval and will continue until the District Cross Country event on Wednesday 8th May. Students will need to wear or bring their running shoes and full water bottle.

Hoping to see many of our young athletes out for a light run in the mornings!

Twilight Sport

Thursday 4th April, 2019

Our annual Twilight Sports event has been planned for Thursday 4th of April, 5:00-7:30pm and will be held once again at Petrie Park. This is a whole school community event and we encourage parents, grandparents and siblings to come along. The classes have commenced preparing for this enjoyable school event, which will focus on fun, team-spirit and participation and include a number of rotational activities, team games and running sprints. Our evening will still kick off with an opening ceremony, led by our Year Five/Sixes. The sprint races, always a highlight, will be incorporated into the rotational activities for every level.

Families are invited to arrive at Petrie Park Oval from 5:00pm for leisurely family picnic time. For your convenience, our lovely SFX Parents Association will be again running their delicious barbeque, providing food and cold drinks for sale (please note that glass bottles are not permitted on the oval). On this evening, children are encouraged to wear their green school shorts and a tee-shirt, hat and ribbons in their House colours.

Further details about this event will follow.
