PREPS IN PYJAMAS 2019

Tuesday March 26 is booked for our delightful Prep Faith night (6:30pm start) where the Prep students arrive at school in their pyjamas. The evening will consist of sharing  prayers, a creating and making time and a discussion about prayer and our friendships. Fr Terry will be leading the Parent Faith component with the Prep parents. He will speak about the importance of prayer and how we can reconnect with God. The children will create a piece of artwork in the classroom and another piece of work with their parents that they can take home and keep.

RECONCILIATION 2019

Thank you to all the parents from Year Three who attended, or sent an apology, to our Faith night in preparation for Reconciliation this year which will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in May. Dates are May 21, 23, 28, 30 and  and June 4.

This year we are trialling trybooking for the booking process. This certainly alerted us the teething problems which have now been fixed. If you have not booked your evening please call Adriana on 9435 8474 or email abownds@sfxmontmorency.catholic.edu.au

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our Year Three children who will be celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation in the month of May. Our first celebration of Reconciliation will take place on Tuesday May 21 at 6.30pm in the SFX Church.

CONFIRMATION

The dates for the Sacrament of Confirmation will occur on August 22, 23 and 24. The planning and preparation for this celebration has already begun across the two schools and parish. Please note that we will be using trybooking for this occasion. More information to come next term.

PROJECT COMPASSION

The Theme for this year is ‘Lives change when we all give 100%’. Project Compassion is Caritas Australia's annual Lenten fundraising and awareness-raising appeal. Millions of Australians come together in solidarity with the world's poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity. Each classroom has been given a box to collect money this year for Project Compassion.

CLASS MASSES

An important and much loved part of our RE Program at SFX has always been the Class Masses. The children enjoy being able to share this special celebration with their friends and family. Class Masses will be at 9.10am and will take place either in the classroom or the church.

Congratulations to Year 1 JV and MH for their Class Mass this week about Kindness in Lent. They discussed ways we can show kindness towards others during Lent. It is the perfect time to ask God to give us a share of His goodness and kindness and help us to reach out to others.

We look forward to Year Five FG and AB Class Mass later this term.

ST VINCENT de PAUL FOOD APPEAL

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE ST FRANCIS XAVIER COMMUNITY on a wonderful collection of goods for the St Vincent de Paul. We collected 487 items of food, a staggering number of items. Well done to all. If you happened to forget, don’t worry send it along to your grade or the office and they will pass it on.

A special mention and thank you to Isaac and Charlotte Phillips and Olivia Halbish for collecting donations through a lemonade stand they had at home a few weeks ago. These wonderful students clearly demonstrating, ‘Be the kindness you wish to receive’: The money they collected went to the following organisations: $10 to Hayden’s Helping Hands, $24 to helping scientists find a cure for MS and $10 to St Vincent de Paul. Congratulations and well done.
