Remembrance Day

Congratulations and thank you to those students who participated in the successful commemoration services at both Doncaster Secondary College and Doncaster RSL on Friday 11 November. A huge thank you to the DSC Service team:-

  • Wade C. for being our fabulous MC.
  • Wade C. and Ashlynn W. for their poetry readings.
  • Flick J. for laying the wreath. The wreath contained pinecones from a descendent tree from the Lone Pine in Turkey, and was made for us by the ladies at Doncaster RSL.
  • Lamar A. for reciting the Ode of Remembrance.
  • Natasha K. and her accompanist Gabriel K. for their wonderful rendition of the National Anthem.
  • Flag Raisers: Andrelle W., Emma G. and Sienna M.
  • Our live streaming team, Ryan C. and Flick J., and the support of Mr Tim Sprigg and Mr Howin Tang.
  • A copy of the live stream can be viewed on the College web site under quick links, past streams.
  • Mr Dennis and Ms McGee for their support.

An enormous thank you also to the team who participated in the service at the Doncaster RSL. Members of the RSL, politicians and members of the public attending were very appreciative of having a student MC, poetry readers and live music as part of the service. It was wonderful having students from such a range of year levels involved in so many aspects of the service.

A big thank you to our fabulous musicians, members of the Wind Ensemble, Mr Dean, Mr Verco, Emily Dean and Julian Howes for their support and balancing the ensemble pieces.

Special thanks to Emily, from Templestowe College for her wonderful rendition of the Last Post and the Rouse - it is a high pressure gig!

Special thanks also to our Yr 12's for returning for one last time, Jordan Moll for his wonderful work as MC, Elina Jayamanna for her moving rendition of both the National Anthem and Abide With Me and Kelly Ng for her fabulous photos and assisting with laying the wreath.

A special mention also to Ella R. and Tayla M. for reciting the poems so beautifully. The students were joined by a Catafalque party from Defence Force School Signals, Pastor Matthew Wyatt who delivered the prayer, guest speaker Brigadier Robert (Bob) Slater AM RFD, Vietnam Veteran Mr Dennis Clarke who delivered the Ode of Remembrance and RSL President Mr Philip Webb.
