DSC Alumni shines on stage

You may have heard the radio advertisements about a new production at Melbourne's Regent Theatre - Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat - and perhaps you considered booking tickets over the summer holidays. Well, here's a big reason why you should.... it stars our very own DSC Alumni, David Duketis!

David successfully completed his Year 12 studies in 2015 at Doncaster Secondary College before going on to complete a Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre) at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Whilst at WAAPA, David appeared as Richie Walters in A Chorus Line, Jerome in Merrily We Roll Along, Eddie in Mamma Mia, William Bryant in Mary Bryant, Mr. Loxley in The Wonderful World of Disoccia and ensemble in Strictly Ballroom and Cry Baby.

David has performed extensively from a young age, developing his skills at Stage School Australia. Recently, David shared his story with Stage School Australia in the video below. It makes for inspiring viewing and demonstrates how having a  growth mindset, along with passion and drive, can take your career to the next level.

We congratulate David on his role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamboat.

Sous Chef  and Powerhouse: Jo Barrett

DSC Alumni, Jo Barrett, just goes from strength to strength. We have featured Jo in a previous edition of our College Newsletter (edition 14) covering her crusades in sustainable food and how the hospitality industry must change its practices. Described as a "game-changer" and "the future of gastronomy", Jo partnered up renowned chef, Matt Stone, to demonstrate their commitment to preserving the planet by delivering over a decade worth of projects, such as last year's pop-up eco food space Future Food System in Melbourne's Fed Square.

This year, Jo has partnered with environmental campaigner Joost Bakker to create and feature in an inspiring documentary, GREENHOUSE by Joost. Now showing at selected cinemas, Greenhouse follows Bakker as he builds a self-sustaining home that provides its occupants with an ecosystem of water, energy, shelter and nourishment. They face their fair share of challenges but ultimately, Greenhouse by Joost, is an uplifting look at the teamwork and ingenuity behind a paradigm-shifting project that bursts with life.

However, Jo's latest chapter in her remarkable career is the opening of her restaurant, Little Picket. To sample her  hyper-local, organically grown food head down to Mountjoy Parade in Lorne.
