School Concert Band

SCHOOL CONCERT BAND MEETING FEBRUARY 26TH

We are about to establish a new Junior Concert Band at Cobram Secondary College.

Concert bands have for a long time been considered an ideal way for children to learn both music skills and have an enriching social experience.  Students at Cobram will not only be given musical tuition on their preferred brass, wind or percussion instrument, they will also take part in a weekly band rehearsal, and have the opportunity to share visits with other school bands, and to participate in outside performances and band festivals.  Band members will be taught music and learn to perform in public.

All the students in Year 7 have been surveyed this week to establish their potential to play music and an indication of the instrument most suited to them.

Should you be interested in learning music in a performing ensemble by becoming a member of the new Junior School Concert Band, it is essential that you attend our information/signup meeting on Tuesday February 26th at 7.00pm in the Performing Arts Room (W6).

The band program will be outlined in detail and I will discuss the survey results with you and help you select a suitable instrument.  Our amazing Senior Concert Band will be performing on the night so that you can see what it is all about.

A representative from Future Music Australia will be in attendance to help assist your decision.

Below are links to two videos from Yamaha, Australia about why we should learn a musical instrument.

The first is orientated towards students, whilst the second is aimed at parents.
