Principal's Report

The school of choice for the Cobram Community

Every child matters,

Every staff member cares,

Every opportunity taken.

Welcome back to a new school year.

Welcome back to the 2019 school year. In particular, I would like to welcome our new students, especially our Year 7's who’ve made a great start already, and a large number of new students in years 8-12.

We are the school of choice for many of the Cobram community.

We believe:

Every child matters

Every staff member cares

Every opportunity taken

Every child matters

We’ve started some major initiatives to improve student learning.  We’ve upgraded and relocated the senior study centre (see photos).  Our senior students are loving the large space, dedicated to their learning.  For our “hands on” students, we have commenced our farm and garden.

As a part of this move, the library has relocated into the centre of the school. The collection has been broken into three rooms: the fiction reading room, the non-fiction room and the senior fiction room. Our fiction room is located in O1, just off the courts and is currently open every lunchtime. Students have been enjoying the warm weather, grabbing a book, a cushion and lying in the breeze near the concertina doors. It is wonderful to see a growth in our borrowing statistics as students use the friendly 'genre' shelving system to find their just right book.

Every staff member cares

The farm & garden project started in 2018 with the VCAL staff and our School Council President. It has continued to grow in 2019 with the help of our friends at Cobram Irrigation and Rural, Rotary, our team of VCAL teachers and college staff.  VCAL students have had access to hands on work experience at school and connections with local businesses and employers.

Our Farm and Garden will continue to develop into a space that all students will be able to use.  For regular updates, check out our Facebook page.

Every Opportunity taken

Our Year 10 Advance class completed their week at Rubicon.  The week for many was a physical and mental challenge… the focus was on individual development & growth, and developing leadership skills. I’m so proud of our students and staff who persisted, even when the going was tough.

Welcome to our new staff

We would like to welcome our new Science teacher, Dr Alistair Payne.
